At the Trussville City Board of Education Meeting on May 18,
2015, Dr. James Tygar Evans was hired as an elementary school principal.
Dr. Evans will join Mrs. Schmitt and Dr. Jeter on the Paine Elementary Campus
for the 2015 – 2016 school year.
Dr. Evans graduated in 1984 with a BS degree in Elementary
Education from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He comes to Trussville
after completing 22 years in administration in Rome City Schools in Georgia.
He started his career in school administration in 1993 which included 2 years
as an assistant principal at Rome Middle School, 11 years as a high school
principal at Rome High School, 4 years as an elementary principal at North
Heights Elementary and 5 years as principal of East Central Elementary School.
Dr. Neill stated that she is delighted to have someone with 20 years of
experience as a principal, especially with 9 of those years in a K-6
environment. “He will bring new perspectives and an exciting dynamic as we open
three K-5 elementary schools in Trussville," Dr. Neill stated.
Dr. Evans holds a Doctorate of Education in Educational
Leadership and Administrative degrees as Educational Specialist, Masters of
Arts and Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama.
Dr.
Evans first day in Trussville will be July 1, 2015.
